In Japanese tradition, a Senbazuru is usually gifted to family or friends who may be ill as a symbol of hope and longevity. It has the meaning of healing and is often related to stories where great disasters have happened.

We have all been affected by COVID 19. Let’s come together to create, connect, reflect and be present as we together create the 1000 Paper Crane installation, a symbol of healing. Inspired by themes from the Enchanted Worlds: Hokusai, Hiroshige and the Art of Edo Japan.

Special acknowledgment to Yuka Masamura for sharing her vision and project with us all.
